Hey everybody, the summer vacation is almost over
Sailing Class means work... can you rig up the boats? |
GROAN
But the good news is that SAILING CLASS is about to begin!
YAY !!!
This fall semester, we should have a great class with better opportunities than we've had before. We will start out with the work of getting the fleet ready to sail... yes us coaches have already been hard at work behind the scenes but we left some of the job for you... what better way to learn "no work = no play" as well as a sense of responsibility for your vessel? You beginners will be able to learn & have fun out on the water, and your new skills will be reinforced by on-water sailing drills (link). You advanced sailors will not only get to show off your skills in our hot-rod 5O5, we have perfected (well, almost perfected) a new
This game relies on good boat-handling, the ability to sail effectively on ALL points of sail, and of course knowledge of the Right-Of-Way rules (link). We've played ball games on the water before, this is a slight refinement where every member of a team has to sail the ball thru the GOAL (inconveniently located to windward) and the team must pass the ball among themselves on signal (about every minute or less).
The great thing here is that beginners can join in (once they have mastered the basic sailing drills) and we can use both the FJs and the Javelins.
Now, who is ready to SAIL !!!
